Richard Morrison is a very unique surrealist artist whose work reflects a sense of movement and energy. By combining still life elements, flowing landscape forms with contrasting geometric shapes and archetypal subjects together he creates an organic multilayered vision that fuses perception with the sublime.

Currently residing in TN, Richard is an active painter, teacher, designer and craftsman. He received a BFA from Memphis College of Art in 1989 and a MFA from the University of Georgia in 1992. Since completing his education Richard has worked and traveled extensively, living throughout the South and Southwest US with travels to national parks and museums all over the United States and Europe. Richard has divided his time teaching, marketing his art, exhibited nationally and completing a number of portrait and mural commissions.

"My work is a result of influences from the natural world and from the world of archetype and legend. Great art from history and the contemporary art world inspires me. The study of nature and science, the mystical, the archetypal and sublime are all a part of my work.I try to open myself as a vehicle for a higher voice that speaks through my art, a voice that mixes my own response to life with the voice of the subconscious that we all are part of."
