Nebojsa
Djurovic
Born
on November 14, 1964 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Scorpio
/ Libra). When he was 12 his father, a prominent lawyer, was
killed by Tito's communist regime, then his family had to
escape from Sarajevo to save their lives and only in the last
4 years he became ill, lost his job, got bombed and became
a regional expert for depression.
Nebojsa
graduated at the Agricultural Faculty in Belgrade in 1989
and worked for USDA/FAS from 1990-1999. When he was a child,
it was prophesied by a well-known local psychic that he would
become a world famous artist but he forgot the prophecy until
the onset of his disease in June 1998, when he became severely
ill from a heart disease and the most severe clinical depression.
The intensity of suffering from the diseases prompted the
complete change in career/life path which resulted in a degree
in Hypnotherapy and Stress Management in 2001. In 2002 he
founded the organization Art-A-DAY, which stands for Art AGAINST
DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY. He is developing a book, "The
Color of Grace".
The
artist defines his art as the "Art of Spiritual Liberation"
not only because of his lack of formal artistic training but
also because of his professional interest for the healing
and transformational properties offered by art creation.
"Translated
into English my name (Pronounced as a Nebojsha) means 'The
One Who Is Not Afraid'. I find this quite ironic for someone
who got ill from severe depression/anxiety-panic disorders.
But, maybe the name means the one who is not afraid to talk
about his weaknesses."
"My
birth date is celebrated in the Serbian Orthodox Church calendar
as the day of St Healers, early Christian healers, Kosma and
Damian. This personal birthdaye symbolism matches to a great
extent my therapeutic life and artistic credo which can be
summarized by the words of the famous Russian existential
philosopher Mt. Nicolai Berdyaev: "We do not need miracles
in order to start believing. We need the faith which makes
the miracles happen."
